Stretch polyester fabric sample, new polyester yarn replaces PU elastic fiber for outdoor apparel
First of all, sportswear, outdoor and daily clothing markets demand softer stretch fabrics year by year. Manufacturers usually mix polyester with polyurethane elastic fiber to achieve stretch performance. However, inconsistent heat-setting properties between the two fibers cause unstable processing and finished fabric quality.
Meanwhile, Tokyo-based Teijin Frontier developed a new polyester filament to solve the above problems. This single polyester yarn can provide stretch and recovery equal to PU, supporting fully polyester fabric production. Different from traditional stretch yarns relying on crimp or conjugate structures, its elasticity comes from exclusive polymer design and precise spinning control.
Furthermore, the all-polyester filament brings soft stretch touch and stable shape retention. Its elastic recovery rate matches PU fiber, suitable for products requiring both wearing comfort and long service life. It mixes well with high-performance polyester, retaining moisture-wicking, quick-dry and durable water repellent functions on 100% polyester textiles.
In addition, the monomaterial fabric structure greatly simplifies textile recycling. This new stretch polyester supports sustainable textile production and reduces waste processing costs. The material fits wide scenarios including sportswear, outdoor gear and casual daily wear, becoming a mainstream PU substitute in the near future.
